FAQ

I’m thinking of getting a rug…

How do you make your rugs?

I use a non-conventional technique which consists is assembling fringes which are then held together by applying 2 layers of latex and burlap to the bottom of the rug. This technique also keeps the rugs flexible and makes them slip-resistant.

Where do you get your raw materials?

The threads and yarn come from textile mills and factories in Flanders, Belgium. The threads are then made into fringes using a professional machine that I’ve installed in my studio.

Are the rugs sturdy?

Having used them for the past 8 years, I can confidently state that my rugs can stand the test of time when used regularly and respectfully.

Can I see the rugs before I order?

Sure! Come to my studio in Brussels, and I’d be glad to show them to you. Take an appointment.

Can I order a custom rug?

Yes, absolutely! Contact me and we can discuss what you have in mind.

How long will it take to get my rug?

It all depends on where you live and what you order. In general, the shipments are sent with 5 working days of the order. You should get your rug in 15 days or less.

Can I pick up my rug myself?

Why not? If it’s more practical for you to pick up your rug directly, you can come get it from my studio.

Can I order from outside Europe?

Yes, get in touch and I’ll send you the estimated time and cost of a delivery to where you live.

How can I buy a rug as a professional? (e.g. for my business, as an interior designer…)

I’ve had many professional orders so far. Send me an email at shop@laurekasiers.com with your professional address and phone number and a list of the items you’d like to order. I’ll send you an order form to sign. You’ll get a bill when you receive your rug.

Why these prices?

We are accustomed to the prices of products manufactured by industrial giants or by craftsmen from abroad. Creating hand-made products in Northern Europe is more expensive, especially on a small scale. But it’s well worth it for nothing is lost in translation between the designer and the manufacturer. I design and craft each one of my pieces.

Where do the proceeds go?

Once a percentage of the price is given to PayPal and the Belgian state, the remaining proceeds helps to keep my studio going and to provide for our family of four living in Brussels.

I got my rug! Yay!

How do I take care of my rug?

Rugs love vaccuum cleaners! During the first few months of your rug’s life, it will go through a kind of shedding phase. This phase is only temporary and should be accompanied by a lot of vaccuuming.
If you want to give your rug a good clean, you can use a waterless rug shampoo that you’ll find in stores. To take out stains, clean the sullied area straight away! Each type of stain requires a different type of cleaning.

How to store my rug?

It is important to note that the latex backing at the bottom of the rug hates sunlight. Place your rolled up rug in a cool, sun-free place to keep the backing flexible and happy.

What do I do if threads poke out of my rug?

Rugs are made out of millions of pieces of thread. Sometimes, a few threads are fully embedded in the latex backing and move up a little. You can cut these little bits of thread if they bother you. It won’t hurt the rug.
